Code Of Conduct

The Colorado Oil & Gas Association (COGA) Code of Conduct communicates the commitment of the association and membership to responsible development of natural gas and oil in Colorado. COGA’s intent is to foster an organizational culture where members embrace responsible operating practices and engage effectively with concerned stakeholders.

COGA and its members commit to and hold each other accountable to the following operating values:

Industry Integrity

  • Acknowledge that the best industry outreach effort is well managed and safe operating practices
  • Hold contractors and employees accountable to this code of conduct
  • Encourage an industry and company culture that values environmental protection and community engagement as priorities

Environmental Protection

  • Value the integrity of the landscape, water, air, and wildlife resources
  • Pledge to conduct our operations in an environmentally responsible manner
  • Support strong and reasonable regulatory framework consistent with public health, safety, welfare, and the protection of the environment
  • Recognize the unique character of each site and that our operations need to be managed to minimize conflict with competing land uses

Community Engagement

  • Value the interests of landowners, consumers, and local communities
  • Cooperate with local governing entities to address the concerns of local jurisdictions and their citizens
  • Understand the need of local residents to contact operators and provide easy to access contact information
  • Communicate plans and actions in which local groups or individuals may have an interest
  • Respond promptly to the concerns voiced by local and regional stakeholders

Adherence to the Code of Conduct is a condition of membership in the Association.

The Colorado Oil & Gas Association (COGA) Code of Conduct establishes the commitment of our membership to responsible development of oil and gas in Colorado and engaged outreach with our stakeholders.

COGA’s work emphasizes (1) sharing of information and best practices among industry members, and (2) education and outreach to the public regarding the safe and responsible operations of our members. We welcome your ideas on how we can continuously improve these efforts.

Adherence to the Code of Conduct is a condition of membership in the Association. Request for review of a member company’s conduct may be submitted to codeofconduct@coga.org.
