Energy Future

In Colorado we have abundant resources of clean burning natural gas. As part of the shale gas revolution, there is opportunity for all of us to reduce pollution, reduce our carbon footprint, reduce our dependence on foreign oil, increase jobs, and ensure long term reliable and affordable energy.

Natural gas is a clean, abundant, and domestic energy source. The tremendous natural gas reserves provide a significant opportunity for the United States to reduce our dependence on foreign oil and reduce pollution. Fortunately, Colorado has world-class natural reserves, with 10% of the U.S. natural gas reserves and almost 2% of the nation’s crude oil reserves. The many improvements in horizontal drilling and hydraulic fracturing have opened unconventional reservoirs, such as tight sands, coal bed methane, and shale rock.
