Committees

Committee engagement is one of the most valuable benefits of COGA membership.
Picture
COGA utilizes its committees to provide critical member input and direction on COGA strategies and activities. They allow for member companies to contribute their perspectives and expertise to the organization’s efforts and for COGA to maintain a unified and thoughtful strategy on regulatory, legal, legislative, outreach, programming, and other issues.
Member participation and engagement is strongly encouraged in committees. Serving on a COGA committee is a great way to grow your network, deepen your expertise and develop leadership skills. Volunteering for COGA is also a meaningful way to contribute to the collective success of the oil and gas industry and the communities we serve.
Not sure what committee is right for you?  Check out these committee descriptions to learn more about each committee’s focus area.  Consider your current expertise and skills – volunteering provides an opportunity to apply those skills in a new way, as well as develop and deepen your own knowledge and experience. Consider how much time you can commit as well – some committees meet more frequently than others, and most enable members to participate via conference call.

Committee participation is an exclusive, COGA member benefit. Some committees require specific qualifications and participation may require approval to join. These qualifying criteria are noted where applicable below

Ready to learn more? Simply click on the committee contact to reach the staff lead and let them know you are interested. Staff can answer your questions and share more information on committee work plans, guidelines, and comprehensive overviews including committee chairs and tentative meeting dates, where applicable.

In addition to the following standing committees for 2021, COGA also establishes working groups throughout the year to address specific concerns. Several committees host annual strategy sessions, including the legislative committee, EHSR, and LRC.

Environmental, Health, Safety, & Regulatory (EHSR) Committees
COGA is restructuring its EHSR and EHSR Air Committees for 2022
EHSR air will focus on COGCC permitting and compliance issues with a few minor updates on other matters.  EHSR Air will focus on APCD and AQCC matters.  EHSR is the second Thursday morning of each month and EHSR Air is the fourth Thursday of each month.  We have conducted a lot of rulemakings in the past few years and the purposes of these two committees has changed slightly.  We will continue to have small one-off group discussions on rulemaking for both agencies, TENORM and other matters as they arise.
Picture
COGA’s EHSR Committee reviews practical and technical details on regulatory development and implementation. Environmental and regulatory subcommittees meet regularly, and ad hoc working groups are created periodically for rulemakings and to address other specific issues requiring response.
