The Colorado Oil & Gas Association (COGA), along with Civitas Resources and Liberty Energy, are excited to announce our Growing Greener Communities Initiative to support local Colorado communities across the Front Range with free 5-gallon trees and water-conserving tree diapers. The initiative is offered in partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation's Energy Saving Trees program, and will provide a wide range of community and household benefits. The free trees are not only a gift to each homeowner, but the entire neighborhood community. Every tree will come with a free tree diaper to assist with watering and help recipients save on watering costs. Tree diapers are designed to absorb rain and/or irrigation water and hold it over an extended period of time, releasing the water slowly to the soil and tree roots.
About our partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation:
The Energy-Saving Trees program utilizes a research-based, easy-to-use online mapping tool that takes the guesswork out of tree planting. This tool focuses on homeowner education and maximizing environmental impact. By entering a planting address, the tool calculates where to specifically and strategically plant trees for the greatest energy- and money-saving benefits. Planting the right tree in the right place is key to maximizing the energy-savings benefit that trees provide. When planted properly, a single tree can save a homeowner up to 20% on energy costs. But trees do much more than provide energy savings to the homeowner. They also provide tangible benefits for the entire community: improved air quality, reduced stormwater runoff, beautification of your neighborhood, reduced urban heat island effect, and a smaller carbon footprint, just to name a few. The interactive program technology is powered by i-Tree, and provides valuable education and guidance surrounding appropriate tree placement. In addition, the technology offers partners a streamlined execution for urban tree distributions, and the robust partner dashboard delivers an abundance of data/metrics surrounding the environmental impact of all trees distributed. |
