Leighton is serving as an Air Quality Engineer & Data Policy Advisor for the Colorado Oil & Gas Association (COGA) since 2023. In this role, he navigates the complex challenges of balancing energy production with environmental stewardship, focusing primarily on air quality issues in the oil and gas sector.
Prior to joining COGA, Leighton earned his Bachelor's degree in Petroleum & Natural Gas Engineering from West Virginia University, he joined Chevron where he gained valuable technical knowledge drilling and completing wells in the Gulf of Mexico. Driven by a passion for environmental conservation, Leighton furthered his academic pursuits, pursuing a Master's degree in Earth and Environmental Engineering from Columbia University, enabling him to more effectively contribute to COGA's mission while advocating for environmental responsibility. Before his journey into engineering, Leighton served in the United States Marine Corps as a Machine Gunner where he completed multiple deployments. Today, Leighton applies the lessons and skills from each chapter of his life to promote the balance between energy industry needs and environmental sustainability. His work at COGA embodies this commitment, and he continues to shape the future of air quality in the oil and gas industry. |
