Policy & Political Engagement

COGA is the policy and political voice for 300 Colorado-based oil and natural gas companies. COGA endeavors to build relationships with elected officials and key stakeholders to ensure continuity and ongoing policy education.  COGA's efforts include:
  • Industry Voice: COGA provides a reasoned and informed voice to media, the public, industry, and allies during the legislative session on political and policy issues on behalf of oil and natural gas. COGA works to uphold accountability within the oil and natural gas industry and with media by providing resources and data to ensure accuracy in coverage of oil and natural gas issues.
  • Colorado’s Energy Future: COGA supports bipartisan energy education efforts to assist legislators on important energy policies, emerging technologies, and business practices, as well as build trust and transparency on both sides of the aisle regarding key issues.
  • Employee Engagement: COGA works to maintain workforce engagement and awareness which will include educational communication and seminars on policy issues, as well as coordinating member participation at legislative, regulatory, and local government hearings.

COGA is always working to increase the industry’s visibility by increasing our political leadership. Our most direct way to accomplish this goal is through the Colorado Energy Education Political Action Committee (CEEPAC).

The purpose of CEEPAC is to provide the oil and gas industry a crucial voice in the Colorado political process by educating and providing financial support to candidates for state and local office who support COGA’s public policy values.
CEEPAC is funded exclusively by voluntary contributions from COGA members.

The most comprehensive oil and natural gas legislation Colorado has seen in decades.

Impacts of SB 181 will be determined by many complicated regulatory rulemakings at both the state and local levels, which could take years to complete. COGA is committed to being an engaged stakeholder and being the go-to resource for elected officials, the oil and natural gas industry, and all Coloradans throughout the entire process.
