Session: Energy Diversity: Reliability, Sustainability, and the Case for an Integrated Approach

Colorado’s oil and gas industry has successfully reduced emissions and adopted sustainable practices driven by a commitment to our environment.  Our industry is not alone in seeking innovative approaches to advance climate goals, as the energy sector includes a diverse pool of energy generation sources that operate in similar regulatory and political environments.  Innovation, financial incentives, and unconventional partnerships are proving the viability of utility-scale applications of these newer technologies, while common issues of land use constraints, infrastructure and community engagement impact all types of energy production.  This panel of oil and gas, nuclear, wind and solar experts will discuss an “all of the above” approach to energy generation and how integrating diverse sources are needed to produce reliable, sustainable, and affordable energy in our communities.

Panelist Profile | Q&A with Bethany

Have you attended The Energy Summit before?
As a guest or panelist? Yes, as a guest.

What brings you back? – AND/OR - What are you looking forward to at this year’s Energy Summit (aside from your session)? I think the panel sessions cover good topics and have meaningful discussion. It’s also nice to connect with people in person. I’m looking forward to moderating the Energy Diversity panel session, getting to know the panelists more, make new connections, and learn something new!

What made you decide to join us at this 34th Annual Energy Summit conference to participate on this panel?
I thought it would be a great way to give back to COGA and be more involved with a great organization. Plus it’s always nice to meet other professionals in the industry.

Why do you think your panel topic is critical in the oil and natural gas industry at this time?
While O&G is very important and not going anywhere long term, it is important to look at other energy sources to see how we can work together.

What is your personal favorite story about, or characteristic of the Colorado oil and natural gas community and those who work in it?
A great characteristic of the O&NG community is the community it creates – jobs, resources, economic growth, and the products we all use every day.

Any great books or binge-worthy shows to recommend?
I’ve been a big fan of the Drive to Survive series on Netflix (Formula 1 series).
